Zambezi Canoeing is ....

a trip for the true adventurer and wilderness lover. This was a repeat trip to our 8-day trip in 1999 and we enjoyed it even more this time around. For one, October is a better time to be on the river as the wildlife can't stray too far from the water. So we watched wildlife constantly. Also, the current is a bit slower than in Aug and as a result controlling viewing from the canoe is easier. On the negative side, more peddling is required and the temperatures can exceed 40c (104F) at midday and it takes a couple of days for the body to acclimate.

While hippopotamus are always around and can be a bit aggressive in Mana Pools, the highly experienced guides of Natureways Safaris will make the trip safe and memorable.

We were extremely lucky to encounter a pack of 27 Wilddogs on a brief walk in Manapools. Since we haven't seen Wilddogs since 2000 it was truly the highlight of this segment. Being around Wilddogs on foot is something we hope to experience again since it is so much better than being in a vehicle, but the chance of that is really very remote.

We will back...
