ENEE 657 :: Fall 2017 :: Resources

Virtual Machines

To help you get started and to ensure consistent grading, we provide you with virtual machines (VMs) that have all the tools you need for your homeworks. You must solve each homework in a separate VM:

You can find the login and usage information in the user manual. To run the VM, you can use VMware Workstation (for Windows) or VMware Fusion (for Mac OS); both are available from TERPware. (You may also be able to use a free virtualization package like VirtualBox, but I have no experience with it and I won't be able to answer quesions).

Your homework must work within the Virtual Machine (VM) that we provide you.

The GRACE System

You will submit your homeworks and your paper critiques from the GRACE machines. This means that you have to copy your files into your GRACE filesystem, SSH into grace.umd.edu, and use the submit command as described below.

The command takes one file at a time, and you must invoke it from the directory where your file is located. For example, here is how you would submit a file called hello_world.c:

submit 2017 fall <COLLEGE> <COURSE> 0101 <ID> hello_world.c
Replace <COLLEGE> and <COURSE> with the course number (enee 657) and <ID> with an assignment number, as follows:

Watch for the following messages produced by the script:
