The pictures were taken during a 10 day trip to Velavaru, Maldives Sept 2009. Canon G9 was used with color correction.
The pictures are reduced in size to make downloading tolerable (around 0.3MB each), the originals are 12MP.
The Maldives is as stunning as it appears in pictures and some more! Whether on land or underwater it is unique and captivating. The colors of the ocean are infamous, and weather near perfect and the marine life massive. We had wonderful diving despite being off the main season (appears to be Jan-April for Manta Rays, Whale Sharks and 100ft+ Viz). Visibility was typically around 50-60feet, some cloudy and partly cloudy days reduced the light so pictures suffered. We found wonderful coral structures and diverse and dense marine life.
We stayed at Angsana Velavaru. Both on the island and in-ocean Villas. The villas are simply first rate and are highly recommended. The on island rooms are very good but vary according to which side of the island one is facing.
We had few divers on the boat so we enjoyed a 20+ diver boat for 3-4 divers on all days.
