University of Maryland Death Penalty (DP) Corpus

The Death Penalty Corpus is a collection of material from Web sites that express views for and against the death penalty. It was compiled by Stephan Greene as part of his doctoral dissertation, where full details can be found in Section 3.3 and Appendix 5:

Anyone wishing to access and use the "Death Penalty Corpus" ("DP Corpus") must first review and agree to abide by the Terms below governing its use.

Access to and use of the DP Corpus is conditioned on your acceptance of the following terms. "You" or "your" refers to the individual who downloads the corpus and agrees to abide by these terms.

1. You agree to use the DP Corpus only for non-commercial, non-proprietary research purposes.
2. You will use the DP Corpus in full compliance with copyright law.
3. You agree not to make the DP Corpus available through a service bureau, time sharing or similar service or through a publicly available web site.
4. You will not license, rent, loan, assign, distribute or otherwise transfer the DP Corpus or a copy of it to a third party.
5. Notwithstanding the foregoing limitations, you may copy the DP Corpus to the extent it is reasonably necessary to perform your research.
6. You agree not to remove, obscure, or modify any copyright or other proprietary rights notices that are included in the DP Corpus as originally provided to you.
7. You will include an acknowledgement in all publications you issue that are based on the DP Corpus, regardless of the format or the medium in which the publications are made. The acknowledgement will be substantially similar to the following: The authors acknowledge the use of the University of Maryland Death Penalty Corpus (Greene, 2007).
